Peachy News: Books into Movies 2013

Hello fellow book lovers!

I thought I would share something a little different today other than purely book reviews and book updates. As I was doing a little researhing I was very (VERY!) excited to find out that some book which I have read (and adored) are slowly in the making of becoming a movie! I couldn't help but let out a little scream of excitement! I know for a fact now that (almost) no movie beats the true essence, beauty and "in-depthness" of a book, however I still enjoy watching the story of a book being played out on the big screens! There are many more books out there which will be made into a movie, but I wanted to show you these to make it a little interesting (and exciting)!

I am so extremely excited for this book to come out as a movie. As I had mentioned in my Liebster Award interview I strongly felt that Blood Red Road would make a perfect movie! There is not a lot of information out yet about the casting, director, or status of the movie but there are speculations that the movie is expected to come out in 2014. That means a very long wait for us Blood Red Road fans, but at least it's something to look forward to! I still need to read the second book of Moira Young's trilogy,  Rebel Heart, so that will definitely be next on my TBR list! Please read my review on Blood Red Road  here.

I wasn't sure what to think when Lauren Oliver stated that Delirium may be turned into a TV show. It is unsure yet which channel will broadcast the series (CW? Fox?) and who would be in the cast, but I hope they really don't fail to portray how beautiful this original and emotional story truly is. I look forward to the developments of this series and to find out who will be directing it and most of all, who will be playing Lena! Who do you think would be the ideal actress for the part?

Even though I was never really fond of the book, I was always in love with the concept of Matched. I thought that it very unique and special. The book itself I was unfortunately not very fond of. Nonetheless, I am still pretty excited to see how this book will turn out to be as a serie, and perhaps they will tweak a few things in order to make it more 'likable' for the viewers (seeing that not a lot of readers were fond of the book). Thankfully there are many more books which are slowly being made into movies, for example Divergent, The Host, Beautiful Creatures, The Maze Runner, etc. Even though not all movies originated from books seem to be as 'satisfying' as the books itself, but I always do find it exciting to see how the author and producer pictured the story line, the characters, and other things! I'm sure we still have a long time to wait until these three books will be out on the big screen (or on your TV), but it will definitely be interesting to keep an eye on these and to look forward to when they do finally come out :)

Book Review: Delirium (Delirium Book #1) by Lauren Oliver

My Review:

Wow... How a book can drastically change your mind from doubting and almost disliking it to irrevocably falling in love with it! I read Delirium right after finishing Matched, which from my review one may notice that it was not one of my all time favorite. I was unsure if it would be a smart move to read Delirium straight after Matched, due to the similarities other bloggers spoke of... but in the end I am happy that I did!

The characters really spoke out to me. I want to prevent referring and comparing this book back and forth with Matched, however I must say that the characters in Delirium was a refreshing change opposed to the characters in Matched. Lena, the protagonist, started off to be a shy, soft spoken and introverted character. Her best friend Hana had all the 'shine' and beauty which Lena envied and didn't believe she had herself. This portrayed her to be self doubting and self conscious. The two characters lived as and in contradictory life: Hana was tall blond and beautiful; outgoing, daring, confident and brave; rich, educated and had (almost) everything to her disposal -- whereas Lena was living in a poorer neighborhood, was an orphan, doubtful and believed herself to be not ugly but neither beautiful; and she was cursed for a damaged reputation which was put on her by her mother who was a Sympathizer and a former victim of the Love desease.

In the society they live in, they believe Love is a disease and if one 'catches' this disease, they will experience several symptoms which in turn will lead to hysteria and then death. It is therefore mandatory that every member of the society undergoes a special treatment after they reach the age of 18, to eliminate the "Love disease", also known as Amor Deliria Nervosa.

What I found so magnificent of this book is how Lauren Oliver described Love and its 'symptoms' which in Lena's world is portrayed to be very negative. From my own personal experience, I know how it feels like to be in love; but also how it feels like to be neglected by love, to experience heart sickness and unfortunately as well a broken heart. The manner in which Lauren describes the feelings of someone being in love, or having lost love, is so realistic and believable. What I also found so interesting was how Lauren successfully referred to the past as the present we live in now, and how things used to be and how they have changed in Lena's society. It made it that much more dramatic and intriguing and I found myself genuinely believing and feeling for the characters and what they were go through.

At first, I was afraid that Delirium was going to be another slow paced book, which honestly in the beginning it was, but it wasn't unpleasant and it did not make me want to give up on it. I enjoyed the relationships and the connections between the characters and how they evolved to be something genuine. The developments of the characters was not rushed and the emotions felt by the characters were intensely real. The relationship between Lena and Alex was so heartfelt, I always felt excited when they were together off to doing no good, risking their lives to be together, nurturing their love and slowly, and initially indirectly, rebelling against the society.

The rising action and climax of the plot was incredible, and it had me totally consumed and gripping on the pages of the book lusting to find out what would happen next. I was completely perplexed on how this book came to an end, and I almost feel embarrassed to admit this, but the ending was so frightening, exceptional, moving, and heart shredding, that I was sobbing before I could read the last few words of the final paragraph.

I did not give this book a complete 5/5 stars rating due to the fact that it had a slight slow paced start and due to the delayed rising action in the book which only at that point made the book more interesting to me; but it is definitely a must read for those readers out there who enjoy a beautiful, hopeless romantic, and thrilling book set in a dystopian society so well depicted by the author!

Peachy Book Haul for April!

                                     

As you probably have already noticed on my blog (on the left column) I am going to be reading two books in this current month:

• City of Ashes  by Casasandra Clare- the second book to The Mortal Instruments series
• Delirium  by Lauren Oliver- the first book in the Delirium series.

I extremely enjoy books which have a great story to them (who doesn't??) and most of all when these stories are elongated in multiple sequels! The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare currently has 6 books (which I think remains this amount, correct me if I am wrong), thus there will be an abundance of enjoyment and wonderful imaginitions created in my head when egaging more and more into these books!

I recently finished the 1st book of the series, which was a fun, adventurous, and a great page turner and easy read. The story itself excited me and the twist in the end made me want to continue reading the next book. I have also heard from other readers that they thought the 2nd book was even better than the first, which really makes me happy!

I will therefore begin reading the 2nd book from The Mortal Instruments series which I will give a review on once I have finished it! I am quite busy with studying and moving out (I am moving to London in a month!!) so I am not sure how long I will take reading this book, but I think that also really depends on whether this book is truly page turner as most readers have claimed. Nonetheless, the synopsis once again intrigued me as the first book did, so I have no doubt that this book will be a quick read!

After I have read the City of Ashes, I will continue with Lauren Oliver's first book of the Delirium sequel called... (can you guess it?)... Delirium! I am really, really, really (really, really, really!!) excited to read this book as I am completely crazy about dystopian novels and the heroin of this book sounds amazing! She sounds like the heroin which I completely adore (brave, strong willed, and powerful in her own ways). I also enjoy books more which are written in the first person, as in my opinion only then can the reader truly put him/herself in their shoes and actually read exactly what the heroin is feeling!

A book which makes you desire for more and more and makes you want to grab the sequel and relish yourself deeper into the adventurous world of the story the author so dearly creates!

I am super excited with these books and I can't wait to give my reviews and ratings on them and to let you know what I thought of them!
