So once again I am reading two books, and hence two quotes you shall receive ;)

Synopsis of Pretty Dark Nothing:
It’s been twenty three days since Quinn has slept for more than minutes at a time. Demons have invaded her dreams, stalking her, and whispering of her death. The lack of sleep and crippling fear are ruining her life. Energy drinks and caffeine pills don’t make a dent. When Quinn dozes off in the school hallway, Aaron, an amnesiac with a psychic ability, accidentally enters her nightmare. The demons are determined to keep them apart, and Aaron from discovering the secret locked away in his memory. Together, they could banish the darkness back to the underworld for good. That is, unless the demons kill them first.

When a passing cloud blotted the sun, Quinn shivered and whirled around, scanning the room for dark visitors. A gust of wind caught at the curtains, and she reached behind, feeling for the top of the pane fumbling it shut
The room went still.
Too still.
A shadow the size of a small child crouched in the corner between the bed and the nightstand. Its edges quivered in the nonexistence breeze. Turning its smoky head, it looked at her with ink filled eyes. Quinn inched back until her hip hit the lip of the windowsill. As light  re-emerged, it burned through the black being, leaving no evidence it ever existed. She blinked twice. Shadows and nothing more.

- So I broke a couple of rules for this MEME this week. This paragraph is at 2% of the story on my kindle, and even though I am much further in the book now, I had to include this paragraph. I was reading this in bed late in the night last night, and it sent chills all down my spine! This book is so for so captivating and I am loving the characters!

Synopsis of Vanguard of Hope:
LISETVILLE, 1890 -- Murders are committed; homes are burned; family secrets are buried; an unexpected romance complicates lives. Amid the mystery and violence, a vigilante brigade emerges to administer justice.

Flowing through the intrigue and drama is a dark undercurrent that will touch your heart as you empathize with the victims.

Guard this inheritance carefully, and please do not delay in making legal preparations to bequeath it to the next heir. I should have taken care of this much sooner, but I always felt somewhat invincible. Illness and death happened to other people, not me.

- Sounds quite sad so far! I really need to get more into this book as I believe the story is very promising (due to the great comments from other readers).
