Bloglovin'?!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hi all!

A while ago I took Bloglovin' off of my blog as a follow option as I did not think this was used much by my followers. After being on a long hiatus, I realize not that this is a perfect platform for my readers to follow my posts and since I have now  had a couple requests to put Bloglovin' back on my blog ... VOILA! Here it is :)

So if you like what you see and read on this blog, please don't be afraid to hit that FOLLOW button on the right side of my blog or on the about link!

Of course, share your Bloglovin'! I would love to check it out!

See you around Peachy readers!

Book-2-Movie?!

So as we know there are so many books out there which have been converted to movies. Some really good and others... not so good (lets leave it to that). It's common that those who have first read the book and then watched the movie have a very strong and sometimes biased opinion on the movie's outcome... and yes I am definitely one of them!

Were it the characters that made you boil inside with disagreement? The order in which the movie went forward or how they unmistakably skipped the most important part of the book!!!

Well if your are one of these strong opinionated and hard headed people like me, I think you will enjoy this post and I hope to see your agreements and disagreement to which movies you though we're a complete failure or massive success in comparison to the book.

My top three's are in no particular order.

Q: Confess your blogger sins! Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you've done, that as you gained more experience you were like -- oops?

I would say that my biggest 'oops' as a newbie was that I created waaay too many Netgalley books and hardly took the time to review them... My biggest oops I think I still have is that I take too long writing my reviews hence the delay in posting them. Being a perfectionist is not always a good thing, unfortunately

What was your newbie oops?

Liebster Award! - Get to know me!

I have been nominated for the Liebster award and I'm very, very happy and proud of receiving this award! I received this award from several other bloggers the first time this award came around, but I never had the chance to respond to the people who nominated me nor answer the questions they had for me. So in 'celebration' of being back to blogging after a short Hiatus, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge my award and answer the questions posed by those who nominated me this time. I will not be nominating this award to others as I believe the nomination phase is over. Nonetheless, I will semi part take;)
First of all I would like to thank Sophia @ Bookwyrming Thoughts  and Laetitia @ Flurried Thoughts for nominating me for this award! I will be answering both their questions asked!

Questions from Sophia @ Bookwyrming Thoughts

1. Because I'm a fairy tale person (LOL), if you were retelling a fairy tale, which one would you retell?
Peter Pan! I think it is the cutest and most creative fairy tale of all!

2. If you could have a superpower, what power would it be?
Moving objects! I was (and actually still really am) a super fan of the Charmed series, and I always really envied Prue's powers who could move object with her hands and mind! Could be very useful on the most laziest day ;)

3. Who or what inspires you to blog?
I have various bloggers who consistently inspire me and urge me to blog and keep me on blogging. I couldn't pin point specifically just one person since every time I land on someones blog it just inspires me to keep doing what I love doing and spread the love and reviewing books!

4. What types of books do you enjoy reading?
I absolutely fell in love with paranormal, Scifi YA books, but I also enjoy a spicy romantic book once in a while ;) I have also discovered that the books I used to read in English class back in my high school years, which I used to hate, I completely love reading now! I guess I have really grown in loving books with different genres! I am still discovering new genres at this very moment ;)

5. If you were stranded on an island and can only have 3 things, what would you have? (assume there's food, water and shelter already provided... miraculously)
Loads and loads of books (including cooking and DIY books) to keep me entertained... hmm what else... pictures of my loved ones of course... and a pair of glasses so in case I really last long on the island I will still be able to read the books (and perhaps also build fires by projecting the sun through the glasses;)

6. What's your favorite childhood story that you would still enjoy today if you read it again?
This is a hard question since I was never a big reader when I was only just a child... but If I may relate this question to also a story from a movie not just a book, I would choose The Little Mermaid! It is one of my all time favorite stories :)

7. Sorry for making anyone hungry, but random question: What's your favorite food?
I love Italian food but lately I have been discovering Lebanese food which I have completely and utterly fallen in love with!!

8. If you could be any villain from a book, who would you be and why?
A villain? Wow that's hard... never really thought of such a question... If I would have to be a villain I guess I would want to be Deirdre, the evil soul-snatching-isen from
Lichgates
by S.M. Boyce. This is an amazing and adventurous book which has a bit of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones to it.
She is truly very evil who lives off of good souls which she traps in order to gain powers and strength. If you're going to live forever, why not do it with an abundance of cheeky evilness and power? Mwhahaha! ;)

9. What would you do if you had a million dollars?
I have honestly thought about that question a load of times seeing that I live in a very, very, veeery expensive city (London) and am continuously low on money after spending it on rent, phone bills, gym bills, beauty bills etc (what a life ;)). So I would for one stop working and move to a tropical location and start doing volunteer work relating to animals, preferably marine life! I would buy a beautiful cozy house, not too big, but big enough to house my family and friends... donate loads to genuine charities and oh yeah.. buy loads of books while living the easy Caribbean life ;)

10. What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I enjoy writing about books and being excited about them and sharing my excitement with other readers. I am always happy when someone read my review and was actually so intrigued to the point that I convinced them to read the book themselves! I also enjoy being creative in my reviews by not making them too boring or dull. It is often a big effort writing valuable book reviews, seeing that I am also a perfectionist and truly want only the best reviews to be published on my blog... but once I have successfully done so I feel happy to be able to share my thoughts with others!

11. Any tips for new bloggers?
Be unique by being yourself. Don't try to be excessively different to the point you don't recognize yourself and you make it too difficult for yourself (and your readers) to follow what you are trying to portray. Just be yourself and don't feel pressured by others! The creativity and passion will flow out of you once you give it good time and thought ;)

Questions From Laetitia @ Flurried Thoughts

1. What is your favorite book of all time and why?
I would say The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, but then I think back further and I would have to say that the Harry Potter collection did inspire me the most. I wouldn't be able to choose a specific book out of the collection since they are all so amazing! So I will keep it simple by merely saying: HARRY POTTER!! ;)

2. Would you go to your favorite place in the world alone or stay at home with your best friends?
I always say, as many probably also do, home is where the heart is. And my heart is as always with my Boyfriend who is also my best friend. So I can be in the most ideal place I would consider paradise, but it would be absolutely worthless without my best friend (aka my lover ;) by my side!

3. What books can you see getting made into movies?
I always said that The Mortal Instruments collection by Cassandra Clare should be made into movies and whad'ya know? They actually are currently filming the first book
City of Bones
which will come out in August 23rd 2013 (USA)! I also believe that The Blood Red Road by Moira Young would make an amazing movie!!

4. Who are your top three book boyfriends?
I would definitely say Jack from The Blood Red Road by Moira Young and Jace from
The Mortal Instruments
 collection! *Swooooon* :P

5. If you were to write a book what would be your main characters' names?

Ariel Nauta, a unexpected brave and strong protagonist in delirious paranormal world!

6. Print or eBook?
Preferably Print, but since I would be a beginner I would primarily go for eBook in order to quickly advertise my book to bloggers and other readers and ask for exchange an honest review. From experience (by being on the other side of the wagon) I have learned this to be fun and effective!

7. What's your favorite pass-time apart from reading and reviewing?
Watching old and new series all day with a big bucket of BUTTER popcorn...mmmmmmm! Also swimming and tanning in the Caribbean wouldn't be so bad to go back to ;)

8. Samsung Galaxy or iPhone 5?
iPhone!! I unfortunately do not own the iPhone 5 (YET!) but like they say, "Once you go Apple, you'll never go back"! I can't imagine owning another type of smartphone! Next laptop I promise to myself (and also once I have the $$) will be a Mac ;)

9. What got you into blogging?
By discovering other book bloggers and seeing how much fun they were having posting their reviews and sharing opinions with others! I immediately started thinking about a creative name for my blog and thereafter set it up within a few days and wrote my first review! I couldn't wait to get started!

10. What book character can you relate to?
I feel that I can relate the most to Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments collection. The way that Cassandra Clare describes her, not only physically but also how Clary feels about herself emotionally, made it easy to relate to her the most!

11. Oreos in milk: To dip or not to dip?
No dipping! Just open it up, lick off the icing and eat it in one go, haha! Yum yum!

Peachy Feature: Feature and Follow # 2 Thankful

Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can ReadCheck out their blogs to learn more about the rules and to eventually join in!

I really love this Meme, it is a perfect way to put yourself out there as a blogger and meet new bloggers as yourself! If you would like to follow me, you can do this through GFC (Google Friend Connect) or via email!
Make sure to notify me once you have followed me (by posting a comment below the blog post) so I can check out your FF and follow you back :) Also let me know if you have taken my button, I would love you grab your button as well and place it on my blog!

So let's start! The question for this Friday is:

Q: Are you thankful for a fellow blogger? Tell us about him or her.

Throughout my blogging times, I have been privileged to know many other fellow bloggers who share the same passion and values for books which have led to very interesting book conversations and diverse insights. Up to this very moment I have enjoyed this immensely so I would say that I am thankful to all my fellow followers who not only take their time to stop by but also leave a genuine comment on one of my reviews or random blog posts. They take the time to express their beliefs and opinions. Aside from reading books and writing reviews, I love going into book discussions and sharing different perceptions with other readers.
Thank you to all my followers who care to take a moment to express their opinions and perceptions, as this is one of the main things which keeps me going as a book blogger!

Of course I have fellow bloggers who inspire me, not only with their thoughtful insights, but also how they write their reviews, portray their blogs, and the way they maintain their followers. Among these mainly has been Linny's Literature. She was one of the first book bloggers I followed, and therefore I always checked back on her reviews. Unfortunately lately she hasn't been as active, but we all have our moments of spending time on other things in life. I look forward to her return!

I'm Baaack....!

It has been TOO long since my last post and I must say that I have missed book-blogging immensely!

It has not been since my birthday, Septemeber 23rd, when I received new YA books from my brother and his girlfriend that I realized how much I missed reading like an obsessive book worm and blogging all about those peachy books!

So... I AM BACK! There are many new book reviews and updates to come so please, please stay tuned!! I know that 'Immortal Rules' by Julie Kagawa has been on my 'current read' since forever, but I have actually given up on that book a long time ago, not because I did not like it (far from that!), but because it was impossible for me to read as it was a digital version on my computer, which I personally find the most irritating way to read a 'book'. In the meantime I have read several other books, and am currently in the midst of one. Hence, I have decided to put the digital books which I have received from authors on hold until I have purchased myself a Kindle, which will make life way easier for me when I want to read while on the go in busy London! So for now, I will stick to the 'old fashioned' way of reading (which I secretely enjoy more!).

I have missed it all so I hope I will be welcomed (back) into the book blogging world as I was when I first started!

I look forward to sharing all the books and reading everyone else's reviews and posts ;) See you soon!

Peachy went MIA??

Hi Dear Peachy Readers!

I have a lot of explaining to do, but to start, I would first like to explain why I have basically been MIA (Missing In Action) for the last few weeks! Well... I finally moved to London and started my internship as a HR (Human Resources)Trainee at a hotel. It's been a wild and exciting trip so far, but also very busy and hectic! That is actually one of the main reasons why I haven't been active on my blog... Another reason is that I had to study for a very important exam... finance...and the amount of love I have for reading is equal to the amount how hatred I have for studying, and especially finance! But unfortunately that is still a part of my bachelor degree and I must complete it in order to graduate! So my exam is this upcoming Monday and after that I will fly straight back to London!
Finally after this hectic moment in my life I will have more time to read more peachy books and post more reviews, vlogs, updates and more! Just bare with me for these upcoming days and keep checking back!

Again I would like to apologize to my readers and the authors who have sent me their books, but please have a little more patience with me and soon I will get straight back into the blogging action ;) I look forward to it and I hope you do too!

My blog is Carbon Neutral!

Honestly I had know idea about my blog leaving a carbon footprint behind on our planet. I am all about being green and using the most environmentally friendly products to prevent any (more) harm to our planet. So when I ran into this, I knew that I immediately needed to take part of it!

About Carbon Neautral:
“My blog is carbon neutral” is an initiative, originally started in Germany by the “Make it Green” programme, that has the goal to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. We plant a tree for your blog and thereby neutralise your blog’s carbon footprint for the next 50 years! Everyone can make a small contribution to the environment. Every tree counts!

According to a study by Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, physicist at Harvard University and environmental activist, an average website causes about 0.02g (0,0008oz.) of carbon dioxide for each visit. Assuming an average blog gets 15,000 visits a month, it has yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 3,6kg (8lb.). This can mainly be tracked back to the immense energy usage from (mainframe) computers, servers, and their cooling systems.

As demonstrated in the above calculation, the atmosphere can be relieved by an average of 5kg (11lb.) carbon dioxide every year by planting one tree. An average blog causes 3.6kg (8lb.) of carbon dioxide emissions. Consequently, a tree neutralises the carbon dioxide emissions of a blog. Since a tree lives for an average of 50 years, carbon dioxide emissions of your blog can be completely neutralised for this time period.

How great is this, right? You can go on blogging without worrying your leaving a nasty carbon footprint behind!
